To Satisfy:
1. INFS 212, 213 for MIS majors (2 hours)
2. INFS 222, 223 for MIS majors (2 hours)
Course Substitution:
Reason:
Request to use INFS 420 (3 hours) to satisfyINFS 212, 213 for MIS majors (2 hours) :
In 2012, the MIS faculty updated the curriculum for MIS majors to be in greater alignment with curriculum guidelines of the Association for Information Systems. This resulted in a charge that MIS majors now take IS 420 (information systems security) instead of IS 212 and 213 (spreadsheet application classes). The MIS faculty would like MIS majors who are using catalog requirements prior to the 2013-2014 catalog to be able to take IS 420 instead of IS 212 and 213 because it will strengthen their degree program and better prepare them for careers using information system.
Other Reason:
Request to use INFS 420 (3 hours) to satisfy INFS 222, 223 for MIS majors (2 hours) :
For the same reasons listed in the first part of this request, we are asking MIT majors in earlier catalogs be allowed to take the information systems security class (IS 420) instead of the classes on database applications (IS 222 and 223). (More is in the actual pdf)
